Abstract : Abstract : Knowledge of how occlusal force on the teeth is transmitted through the head is an important factor in constructing a prosthesis which harmonizes with the stomatognathic system. Particularly, in constructing removable partial dentures where a load is placed on the remaining teeth and the mucous membrane, it is important to understand the nature of occlusal force out of consideration for such matters as preservation of the abutment teeth, establishment of a harmonious occlusal relationship between the opposing and remaining teeth, and prosthesis design. In order to gain an understanding of these fundamental problems, occlusal force was considered at this research unit as a form of impact and a series of studies were made to investigate characteristics of transfer vibration and its relationship to the skull, the periodontal tissue, the abutment teeth and their retainers. However, the actual level of acceleration occlusion as well as the nature of how acceleration was transmitted to the teeth remained unclear. In an attempt to understand the nature of impact acceleration during, a study was made using a dry human skull. Impact during occlusion was measured with an accelerometer pick-up on the top of the teeth in the skull. In analyzing the data on vibration, use was made of a three-dimensional overall view system developed in this laboratory. The following results were obtained concerning differences in the G-distribution ratio between the upper and lower jaws. 1. Differences in impact force between the left and right teeth were lost as a result of vertical occlusal equilibration. 2. The impact on the lower jaw during occlusion was greater and displayed a tendency towards increasing force progressing from the molars to the front teeth. 3. At an opening distance of 1.0 cm the G-distribution ratio between the upper and lower jaw 1 : 1.32-1.39. 4. At an opening distance of 0.5 cm the G-distribution ratio between the upper and lower jaw was not stable but in the area of 1 : 0.99-1.45.
