Abstract : 「緒言」歯髄や象牙芽細胞の形態学的研究は数多くなされている. しかし, それらの研究の多くは歯髄の一部を観察対象としており, 歯髄全域にわたって象牙芽細胞の形態を観察したものは少ない. さらに齧歯類でも象牙芽細胞の形態学研究は行われているが, それらの多くは切歯を観察対象としており, 臼歯についての形態学的検索は少ない. 一方, 孤立線毛は近年種々の器官, 組織に存在していることが報告されている. また, 孤立線毛の機能についても種々の説がある. すなわち, 1)運動機能を有している 2)胎生期の残遺物 3)細胞分裂の抑制 4)感覚もしくは化学受容器の説であるが, 現在では4)の感覚もしくは化学受容機能を有するという説が有力である. 歯髄細胞でも久保田らによってその詳細な研究がなされており, その機能は感覚もしくは化学受容器であろうと推測されている. また, 象牙芽細胞にも同様に孤立線毛が存在していることはすでに報告されている.

Title : Fine Structures of Primary Cilia in the Odontoblasts of the Lower Molar Teeth of Rats

Abstract : [Abstract]: The entire lower molar tooth of the rat was divided into five parts ; 1. Zone of apical foramen 2. Zone of apical third of the root 3. Zone of cervical third of the root 4. Zone of the cervical line 5. Zone of the crown of tooth. The odontoblasts in each zones were examined by both transmission and scanning electron microscopy. Presence of primary cilia in the odontoblasts of each zones were confirmed. Therefore, the relationship between structures and directions of projection of primary cilia and orientations of long axes of odontoblasts were studied in each zones. A primary cilium was projected to the intercellular space through a narrow invagination of the plasma menbrane from basal body which was one of the centrioles situating in the Golgi region. In the most proximal portion of cilium, the wall of the cilium was composed of nine sets of doublet microtubules, while in more distal portion, they decreased in number. Zone of apical foramen : The odontoblasts were polygonal cells in this portions. A primary cilium of this zone was projected toward the intercellular space of predentine layer side Root of tooth (zone 2, 3) : The odontoblasts were longer than that of zone of apical foramen. The long axes of odontoblast of this zone had a slope to predentine layer, but cilia were porjected parallel with predentine layer. Zone of cervical line and the crown : The odontoblasts of this zones were the longest of all, and cilium was projected toward the dental pulp. Sometimes blood capillaries were shown in this zones. In this case, primary cilia near the blood capillaries were oriented toward the blood capillaries. From structures of primary cilia in this study were simillar to those of sensory or chemoreceptive cilia in other organs. Primary cilia in the odontoblasts of rats might be sensory or chemoreceptive and not be embryological remnants.
