Abstract : [Abstract]: SIgA is a conjugated protein composed of IgA 2-molecular, J-chain 1-molecular and secretory component 1-molecular. It is found in large quantities in exocrines such as saliva and milk and also exists in the blood in low density. It is known as a local immunity. The results of a search showed that the normal values for serum SIgA were 7.6-2.8 mg/dl for males and 1-10.6 mg/dl for females. The normal values for saliva SIgA were 14-482 mg/ml for males and 7.1-235 mg/ml for females. In connection with various diseases, it was shown that examination of the SIgA value along with the rise in IgA was of clinical value in cases of cancer, tumors, renal disease and hepatitis. It was also considered to be effective in cases of acute hepatitis. Although it proved difficult to emphasize any direct relationship to dental caries as the result of an examination of the antibacterial effect of SIgA, it was nevertheless shown that a relationship of some sort exists between the dental carious activity test and SIgA.
