Abstract : Abstract: In the research for the development of dentures, it is important to understand the structure of stomatognathic system comprising the bone structures in the upper portions of the facial skull, particularly the occlusal condition between dental arches in the upper jaw and lower jaw, for accommodating dentures. Better understanding of the structure would contribute to the refinement of prostheses. Our efforts to analyze impact response in facial skull by giving impact externally have made it possible to grasp the outline of impact vibration propagation routes in the skull. In addition to efforts to clarify this propation route, we have perceived the importance of analyzing the distribution of stress in the skull. We have found that in using dynamic stress analyzer SPATE 9000 (manufactured by OMETRON Co.) to conduct prior various analyses, it is important to handle dry human skull as a sample which is composed not of a uniform structure, but of compact bones and spongy bones which are complexly intertwined to form a skull. So we have conducted experiments using the samples of compact bones, spongy bones, and a heat-mold polymer resin to study the effect of structural differences as well as material differences on the impact vibration propagation behaviors and the stress distribution. Results are as follows. There was observed a concentration trend mainly to the compact bone in which a relief capability of power was suggested to be on the spongy bone.
