Abstract : 近年, 生体に対する金属アレルギーが問題となっており, 個々の患者によって原因となる金属元素は異なっている1). 歯科治療において金属の使用は避け難いものであり, 矯正治療においてもステンレス製のブラケットやワイヤーの使用頻度が高い. ステンレス製ブラケットの使用において, その成分であるNiに対するアレルギーを発現する患者に対しては, セラミックスおよびポリカーボネート製ブラケットを用いる事が望ましいと思われる. しかし, セラミックス製のブラケットは治療中に加わる応力によってブラケット本体の破折が生じたり, 撤去時に歯面の損傷が生じることがある2).

Title : Frictional and Dissolution Characteristics of Titanium Bracket Produced by Metal Injection Mold Method

Abstract : Prior to the clinical use of titanium brackets, which were processed through the metal-injection-molding method (MIB), their frictional behaviors were necessary to be examined. In this study, the friction characteristics of MIB are evaluated and compared to those of stainless steel brackets (SSB) and ceramicbrackets (CEB). Rectangular and round wires were used for friction evaluation under both dry and wet conditions. After tests, the surface roughness of brackets was measured and tested brackets were further observed with a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Elemental analysis on potentially contaminated bracket surface was conducted with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy method. Moreover, various couples of wire materials (stainless steel wire, Ni-Ti wire, and ligature wire) with bracket materials (stainless steel bracket and Ti bracket) were immersed in physiological saline solution and 1% lactic acid solution separately. Dissolved ion concentration was measured at 1, 4 and 12 weeks. The frictional force of rectangular stainless steel wires was higher than that of round stainless steel wires. There was a tendency that MIB exhibited less frictional force than SSB and CEB. By the SEM observation after the friction tests, many pores on smooth surface were observed on the MIB surface. Ion concentration from a couple-combination of titanium bracket, wire and ligature wire was less than those the couple of stainless steel bracket, wire and ligature wire. Over all, it was evaluated that titanium brackets can be used clinically.
