Abstract　： 睡眠ブラキシズムは歯科医学的に多くの問題を惹起する要因と考えられている1～3). 現代人の食生活では, もはや過剰な歯の咬耗は起こりえない. なぜなら, 現代人の食物の咀嚼運動においては上下顎の歯の接触はほとんど起こらないからである4). 一方, 睡眠ブラキシズムは, 現代人では一晩の睡眠中に20分から40分と報告され, 人によっては2時間に達する場合もあるといわれている5). このようなブラキシズムは, 歯の磨耗, 歯の動揺, 知覚過敏, 楔状欠損, 歯周組織の破壊, 顎関節の機能障害, 咀嚼筋群の過緊張など多くの歯科的疾患を引き起こすと考えられる6～13). 歯科的咬合治療は, これまで咀嚼機能を中心に研究され, 従って臨床的な咬合治療の目的も単に咀嚼回復に限られていた. しかし近年, 咀嚼器官の重要な役割として情動ストレス発散のためのブラキシズムが提案され14, 15), これまでの歯科的咬合治療の体系を根本的に変える必要が示唆されている16).

Title　： Development of Simple Device for Clinical Evaluation of Occlusal Contact during Sleep Bruxism (BruxChecker)

Abstract　： In this study, we have developed a simple device (BruxChecker) which is a thin vacuum press sheet (Schoui Dental, Germany) to evaluate tooth grinding pattern during sleep bruxism. Individual devices were fabricated in a vacuum press in which the sheet was heated at 220℃ for 15 seconds and sucked over a maxillary plaster cast with coloring by red dye (Acid Red 51), which was dissolved in shellac-ethanol solution. We investigated the most suitable concentration of the dye and shellac in order to evaluate tooth contact during sleep bruxism. The observation of grinding pattern in sleep bruxism using the device easily indicated the location, shape, and direction of tooth grinding.
