Abstract　： 「緒言」タバコによる健康への影響は世界の各国と同様にわが国においても重大な問題となっている. わが国では2000年からの「21世紀における国民健康づくり運動（健康日本21）」においてタバコ対策を重点項目の一つに掲げた1）. また, これを受けるかたちで受動喫煙の防止を求める「健康増進法」を2003年に施行した1）. 2004年には「タバコの規制に関する世界保健機関枠組条約」を受諾し, 翌年からその効力が発生している2）. タバコに対する具体的な対策は国レベルだけでなく地方公共団体レベルでも始まっている. 学校法人神奈川歯科大学のある横須賀市では2007年3月に「ポイ捨て防止及び環境美化を推進する条例」の改正を行い, 「路上での喫煙をしないよう努めなければならない」ことを市民等の責務とした3）. 神奈川県では受動喫煙による健康への悪影響を防止するための公共的空間における新たなルールとして, 「神奈川県公共的施設における受動喫煙防止条例」を定め2010年4月から施行した4）.

Abstract　： Relation of smoking experience to gender, age, department of students, type of employees' job, health status, and knowledge and attitude towards smoking was investigated by questionnaire. The survey was conducted in an educational foundation Kanagawa Dental College in 2009 and 1,155 students and 454 employees were answered (response rate： 86.6% for students, 83.6% for employees). Smoking experience was defined as current or past smoking. Both male gender and higher age were independently related to high smoking experience rate. In addition, smoking experience rate was statistically different among departments of students or types of employees' job. However, the difference was not significant after gender and age were adjusted. These results indicate that the difference in smoking experience rate among departments or type of job is mainly ascribed to the difference in gender and age. Subjects with low self-rated health, who do not care the effects of smoking on health, who do not have enough knowledge of the effects of smoking on health, and who tolerate smoking by students of medical or dental colleges were more likely to experience smoking. These results suggest that appropriate information of the effects of smoking on health should be given to all members in the educational foundation, especially taking into consideration gender and age.
