Abstract　： う蝕と歯周病は治るのであろうか?削って詰めたらう蝕は治る, 歯石を取ったら歯周病は治る, と思っているなら, それは間違い. う蝕と歯周病が完治することはない. う蝕と歯周病の原因菌はともに口の常在菌である. 常在菌は追い出すことができない. しかし, う蝕と歯周病の発症・進行を止めることはできる. そのためには, 発症の原因を理解し, その原因を取り除くことである. 本稿では口の2大感染症の最新病因論を概説する. 「1. 口腔バイオフィルム」 私達の口の中には700種類以上の細菌が住んでいる. しかし, すべての人の口に700種類いるわけではない. 口が綺麗な人には数十種類, 口が汚い人でも300種類程度である. 口腔常在菌の定着は羊水に漂う胎児の頃より始まり, 生後はヒトやペットからの唾液を介して口の常在菌の種類が増えていく. う蝕原菌は歯が萌出した1歳半以降に口に住み着き始める. 唾液による母子・垂直伝播の確率が一番高いが, 父親, 兄姉, 祖父祖母からの伝播もある.

Abstract　： [Abstract] Dental caries and periodontal disease are the two major infections of the mouth. Can these two diseases be cured? If you think that dental caries can be cured by drilling and filling, or periodontal disease can be cured by removing calculus, you are wrong. There is no complete cure for dental caries and periodontal disease. The causative organisms of both diseases are the indigenous bacteria of the mouth. You can't get rid of them. However, it is possible to stop the onset and progression of dental caries and periodontal disease. To do so, we need to understand the cause of the diseases and eliminate it. The cause is microbial shift from symbiosis to dysbiosis in biofilm. This article outlines the latest etiology of the two major infectious diseases of the mouth.
