Abstract : 「緒言」PBL(Problem Based learning= 問題解決型学修法)は症例や一般医科学等の中から問題を見つけ出し, その問題を手掛かりに, 学修を進めていく学修方法である. 5~7人の少人数を対象に行うチュートリアル学修といい, ファシリテーター陪席のもと問題解決型学修法を少人数で行う学修方法をPBL-チュートリアルという. 日本では, 単にPBLやチュートリアルと呼ばれることもある. 歴史的には, 1952年に米国Case Western Reserve大学で創案され, カナダのMcMaster大学医学部で確立された医学教育モデルである. 新しく創立したMcMaster大学では, 新入生を幻滅させる古典的なカリキュラムで講義を行うのではなく, 患者を中心としたPBLを全面的にとり入れたことにより, 同大学で大きく発展し, その後, 世界に普及した. 日本では, 東京女子医科大学が1990年に導入し, チュートリアル教育を普及させた.

Abstract : [Abstract] PBL Tutorial is a learning method that students find the problems from clinical cases or general science, and they learn about those problems with tutors in a small group. In KDU, we conducted the PBL tutorial in the clinical practices of orthodontics for the 5th-grade students in 2006 and 2007, and in the fundamental practices of the pediatric dentistry for 4th-grade students in 2006 and 2007. Based on these experiences, we started the PBL tutorial practices for the freshman as a part of the first grade's education in 2009. As it is the first-grade education, we conducted the introductory tutorial (learn how to study). In 2020, all the lectures were conducted with Zoom (Webinar) in the hybrid style due to the spread of COVID-19 infection. Since the entrance ceremony, the freshman camp, club activities and events were cancelled, 2/3 freshmen were not able to interact with the classmates, senior students and teachers. The PBL tutorial which was scheduled from September might not be able to be conducted because of this infection. Therefore, with the use of Zoom (Webinar), Microsoft Teams and Office 365, PBL tutorial was conducted with the style close to the face-to-face class. The reports of online PBL and face-to face PBL which were conducted last year showed that there were not significant differences between them. The questionnaires showed the difficulties of discussion because of the non-verbal communications in large numbers. On the other hand, they showed the advantage that the online PBL which can be conducted regardless of the time and place. Online PBL will be able to develop as a new wave of educational style after the end of COVID-19.
