Abstract　： 研究活動は, 大学教官, 大学院生, 研修医などに対して例外なく求められている学術活動であるが, しばしばその意味を見失うことも多い. 個人あるいはグループ, 組織が, 研究活動を行う際, 自らの立ち位置を見失うことも多い. 研究がプロフェッショナル(つまり, それを職として, そのすべてを把握したうえで, 誰よりも理解しておく立場にあること)な活動であるべきにもかかわらず. 本論文は, 先に行われた特別講義を基にした総説として, リサーチとは何かについて考え, 特に以下の3点の要約を述べる. キーワードは「貢献」である. 1)アイデアからパブリケーションに至る考えかた. 2)不可欠なクリティカルレビューの力. 3)世界に貢献できる論文の要素とは. 「1. アイデアからパブリケーションに至る考えかた 研究はなぜ行われるのか. 」研究は, 表1に示す6つの目的のために行われることを理解する必要がある. ここで, 後半の3つは難関であるが, 実はそれらが, 本来の研究の最大の目的である.

Abstract　： [Abstract] Researchers should be aware of the importance of contributing to the advancement of science and patient care through research. Research can take place at ubiquitous areas in academic, educational, and clinical environments but the large portion of it ends up in not being published. Because the contribution to the fields is accomplished via publications, any scholarity activity before publication should be considered as a preparation to the goal. To ensure publication, strategical approach should be conducted at the team-, group-, and academic section- and division-, and school-levels. Tracking research projects, particularly for research by students, residents, and other trainees, by defining necessary steps (from the initial discussion and pilot study to the data collection, writing, submission and acceptance) and crediting the score to each step may be useful tools. Schools and academic institutions should also enhance teaching in critical thinking because it would directly strengthen writing skills of researchers and students. Future researchers should be evaluated, appreciated, and motivated more by the use of individual "influential index" such as the h-Index and the total citation as the information is public through scholarly meta-database and search engines like Google Scholar.
